Think about it... makes perfect sense.
How many people today miss out on love because they were abandoned when they were young by their parent?
It doesn't matter if it was on purpose, for selfish reasons, or if it was just for a few months.
Your parent may have even been there the whole time, physically... but emotionally they were absent.
So, you were abandoned, and now you don't quite understand why your adult relationships fail.
Maybe this abandonment is the cause
Let go. Forgive them. Live for today, not in the past.
