Superman: "Listen, what do you hear?"
Lois: "Nothing" said quizzically
Superman: "I hear everything. You wrote the world doesn't need a savior, but every single day I hear people crying for one."
By removing God, Source, the Spirit, Being, Buddha, Allah, or however you address the infinite intelligence that created this wonderful world that we are so fortunate to live in today we are removing a part of us. How painful would it be if part of you was removed? Think of losing your hand, or you vision, or your ability to feel or smell. It appears that today at the end of 2012 some people are focused on separating us from ourselves. They think that by removing this Spirit from forms of currency, from the Pledge of Allegiance, from schools, from all the places that it’s been for years that they are being politically correct. They are living in fear. Fear of upsetting someone.
Politically correct? When did it become about politics?
Life is about our our journey of self discovery; about our spiritual relationship with ourselves and our creator. Everything is made up of energy and matter. It is always flowing from us and to us. How we are feeling determines what type of energy flows. It's either positive or negative.
This fear of upsetting someone is actually what is hurting us. The people behind these movements are trying to do what’s right. But what I feel they are forgetting is that this great nation we are so fortunate to live in; take a moment and think about that. How fortunate are you to be here today? Imagine for a moment what life would be like where the freedoms you have here, did not exist. Freedom of speech, a fair trial, the right to worship; need I say more?
They are forgetting that we are all created equal. We are all created in “His” image. I am not suggesting He is male. Just that He Is! We are all connected; Regardless of your size, your shape, your color, your sex, your likes and dislikes, we are all brothers and sisters. We were created out of love. I am not bashing, or hating, or even disliking. I am saying that it’s time to take a moment and remember why we are here, not just in the United States, but why are you here? What is your purpose? What good are you going to do today? How are you going to change the world?
OK. Back to the “creator” and our purpose for being here, experiencing a material reality as a spiritual being. Love is why we are here. Love is what we all desire. When love presents itself, we generally become fearful for numerous reasons. I believe the main reason, which is just an excuse, I know because I've said or thought these exact words, "I’m afraid that I’m going to get hurt." So what do we do? We push love away. And, we justify what we’re doing because we’re scared.
Funny how the one thing we crave and desire, when we are blessed with it we turn our backs, push it away, worry what others may say, and even run away. We do all sorts of silly things because we feel we are unworthy of it. "How can they love me?" "Why would they love me?" "Really?" "Why me?" I don’t deserve this? But deep down inside you know that you do. It's our birthright. Then, after love has “disappeared” we long for it. Ironic?
Love is a beautiful, wonderful gift from God. Yup! I said it. God. Most people mistake love. They think/believe they are in love. I truly believe that to be in love one must have three things or they are missing out. I believe the three things are a combination of
Physical,
Mental,
Spiritual.
If one is missing you are only getting part of the entire gift. I believe this is why most people who claim to be in love with their spouse or partner eventually fall out of love and split up. They are missing something. They are missing a piece to complete the puzzle. They think that “two out of three ain't bad” but like a tripod, eventually it falls over if the third leg is missing. To be “successful” at love you have to have all three or it will fail.
Physical.
Physical love could be holding hands while walking or sitting together. To some it is being touched in that loving gentle manner by the one you focus your energy on. It could be a hug or a kiss. Getting weak in the knees when you see the object of your desire. Getting nervous, or excited, or delirious are other examples. Physical love is in the body and the actions associated with it.
Mental.
Mental Love could come from thoughts in your head about your partner. Thoughts about what you want out of your relationship. How you wish the other person to act during certain events and situations. Mental Love could also be a feeling for another person so pure and sacred that it's ineffable to its true extent. It is what a person feels for another without any kind of physical or mental barrier between them. They live purely to be with the other to share experiences, pleasures, problems and pain.
Spiritual.
Spiritual Love comes from God. You have to have the right relationship with God first before you are able to have a lasting relationship with your partner/spouse/significant other. Without God in your relationship it is destined for failure. The first reason is this.
When we enter in a relationship it has a way of altering our visions. We go in expecting our mate to fulfill our hopes and to make us happy. But this is an impossible order for our spouse to fill. Unrealistic expectations breed disappointment. The higher your expectations, the more likely your spouse will fail you and cause you frustration. Remember, we are humans. We're sometimes thoughtless, selfish, forgetful and lots of other things that wreak havoc. Relationships are nearly inevitable of dissolving when people refuse to allow their significant other to be human.
So there needs to be transition in your thinking. You must choose to live by encouragement rather than by expectations. Who your partner is now is likely who they will be 10 years from now apart from your loving encouragement and an intervention from God. Love puts the focus on personal responsibility and improving yourself rather than on demanding more from others.
Ah, so we're talking about Love. But John, I thought this was about why we need God. You're exactly right! We do need God. But who is God? What is God? Here is what I have grown to believe during my journey.
Who is love? Where did love come from? I will refrain from quoting the Bible cause I choose to do it another way. God gave us his son for our sins. That’s love. God gave us the ability to do all the amazing things that we are capable of doing. That’s Love. God forgives us for each and every sin we committed against him when we believe in Him. Now that’s love!
God is Love, and Love, is God.
Love endures.
Love is relentless.
Love never quits.
Love never hurts.
Love never leaves.
Love is right here.
Love will find a way.
Love is right over there.
Love is in our hearts.
Love is in our minds.
Love is who we are.
We were created out of Love.
With Love, God, all things are possible!
We are supposed to love when the love is not reciprocated. We are supposed to love those who don't love us or are difficult to love. We are supposed to love expecting nothing in return. We are supposed to love even when the person receiving our love may not deserve it.
We already have all we could possibly need.
We have God and He is always there for us whatever the situation. He always loves us.
We need God because our focus is on everything but God.
Our focus is on ourselves.
We need to remember what He has said. 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:25-34
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. - 1 Corinthians 13:7-8
I believe this is just the start to why we NEED GOD!
